How to read the result
The new salary is a calculated gross figure. It is not a prediction that the raise will be approved.
Calculated facts
Totals and break-even figures come only from the values on this page. They describe the math, not what you should do.
Decision factors
Fit, risk, time, and personal constraints stay outside the calculator. A higher cash figure can still be the wrong path.
Methodology
Raise dollars are current salary × (percent ÷ 100) plus additional cash. New salary is current plus raise dollars. Monthly increase is raise dollars ÷ 12. Effective percent is raise dollars ÷ current salary.
Assumptions
- The raise applies to the salary you entered.
- No tax withholding is modeled.
Examples
Five percent raise
A 5% raise on $80,000 is $4,000, or about $333 a month, for a new salary of $84,000.
How to use it
- Enter your current salary.
- Enter the raise percent and any extra annual cash.
- Read the new salary, raise dollars, and monthly increase.
Limits
- Equity refresh, bonus targets, and benefits changes are omitted unless added as extra cash.
Questions
- Can I model a promotion that also adds a bonus?
- Yes. Put the percent raise on the salary and add any extra annual cash in the additional-cash field.
- Is this COLA-adjusted?
- No. Inflation is not applied. The result is the arithmetic of the numbers you type.
