Calculated facts

Totals and break-even figures come only from the values on this page. They describe the math, not what you should do.

Decision factors

Fit, risk, time, and personal constraints stay outside the calculator. A higher cash figure can still be the wrong path.

Methodology

Annual pay is rate × regular hours × weeks, plus overtime hours × rate × multiplier when overtime is marked paid. Monthly is annual ÷ 12. Equivalent hourly is annual divided by all hours worked.

Assumptions

  • Pay is gross.
  • Hours are weekly and repeat for the weeks you enter.

Examples

Standard full time

$30 an hour at 40 hours and 52 weeks is $62,400 a year.

Hourly with overtime

$28 an hour, 40 regular hours, 5 overtime hours at 1.5×, 52 weeks, is $69,160 a year.

How to use it

  1. Enter the hourly rate.
  2. Set regular hours, weeks, and overtime if it applies.
  3. Read annual, monthly, weekly, and equivalent hourly pay.

Limits

  • Irregular gig hours need an average week that you trust.
  • This is not a paycheck or tax estimate.

Questions

How is overtime counted?
When overtime is marked paid, overtime hours are multiplied by the hourly rate and the multiplier you enter (1.5 is common). If the switch is off, overtime hours are paid at the regular rate.
Does this include employer taxes?
No. It estimates employee gross pay, not fully loaded employer cost.
